Change is inevitable and can promote growth on both an individual and communal level. What shouldn't be altered or erased are the ways of knowing and doing of people who have given a place its significance and have justified its existence. People, norms, rhythms, nuance, and aesthetics are displaced and dismembered because of gentrification, a modern phenomenon of colonization. This visual study serves as a catalyst for conversations about the deleterious effects of erasure. We Still Here, is both an archive and ancestral veneration of the Black community and its people.
